Carry Your Burden- a poem for someone I love

I wrote this poem for someone I love dearly who was experiencing something that few of us could even imagine going through.  I won’t share those personal details of her life, but I wrote these words out of my grief for her.

Carry Your Burden

If I could carry your burden I would
If I could carry your pain I could
Every morning your heart breaks anew
And every morning my heart breaks for you
You’re feeling so sad and so very numb
You’re just not sure what has been done

If I could carry your burden I would
If I could carry your pain I could
You know it was right, your unselfish choice
So why does it feel like you don’t have a voice
But wounds are healed in time, you know
And peace and joy will begin to grow

If I could carry your burden I would
If I could carry your pain I could
You aren’t the same as you were before
But Jesus has plans and your heart he’ll restore
Your heart is getting stronger now as you take things day by day
Jesus did not forsake you; he was with you all the way

If I could carry your burden I would
If I could carry your pain I could
Now your souls finds rest and the healing is done
You have fought the battle and won
You’ll never forget and doubt may come again one day
But you’re moving on, because Jesus made a way

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
