My Summer Reading List

Sun tea, sunshine, sunglasses… vegetable gardens, swimming pools, ice cream cones…vacations, sprinklers, fresh cut grass… sweet summertime things.  Things I long for during the long winter months!  Summer also brings opportunities for some summer reading.  Today I’m sharing some of my summer reads with you.  Reading is my “happy place”… and though I don’t get a whole lot of time to sit and read, I do try and tuck away a little time before drifting off to sleep.

I find many good reads and old favorites at yard sales.  Hardback books for mere change.

This stack includes some of my favorites…books I’ve read and want to re-read…or ones I’m currently reading.

book1

The Secret of the Lord by Dannah Gresh  (Oh, friends, this book…this book is powerful)
Let. It. Go. by Karen Ehman (If you’re a control freak like I am, you’ll want this book)
Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman (sweet summer read, another yard sale find)
Am I Messing Up My Kids? by Lysa Terkeurst (cannot say enough about this book, mommas!)
The Shack by William P. Young (I started this last week…have been wanting to read it for a few years now…loving it)
One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp (beautifully written)
Grace: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine by Max Lucado (grace is a biggie in my life right now… both giving it and receiving it… Max Lucado offers so much wisdom in this book)

book5

Falling in Love with Jesus by Dee Brestin & Kathy Troccoli (can’t wait to read this one)
Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus by Elyse M. Fitzpatrick & Jessica Thompson (if you’re trying to raise kids that know Jesus, this is a must read)

book4

Here are a few I found at last weekend’s yard sales, including the pretty iron book ends all for less than $5.00!

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver
Traveling Light by Max Lucado
Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom

The list could go on and on… but these are just a few of my favorites and ones waiting to be read.  Last night I made a last minute pedicure run… a treat after a long with a capital L. day.  Before heading out the door I grabbed the first books I saw on my nightstand table and got some reading in while my feet were being beautified.

book3

Last and certainly not least… Pulling Back the Shades by Dannah Gresh and Dr. Juli Slattery.  It’s not pictured here because I’ve loaned it to a friend to read.  It’s a re-reader and an eye-opener.  Powerful for your heart AND your marriage.

Blessings friends!
